Description

The endomorph-ectomorph sits on the edge between the linearity corner and the fatness corner, with low mesomorphy. Length and softness coexist without much underlying musculoskeletal robustness — this is a rare hybrid in athletic populations and more common in sedentary ones.

Most observed cases are women across mid-adulthood whose frame is naturally long but whose body composition has shifted toward higher endomorphy without much underlying muscle to balance it. The silhouette is tall and round rather than tall and lean.

It is one of the less common types in the original Heath-Carter surveys precisely because populations under heavy physical labour or sport selection rarely land here — mesomorphy increases the moment training enters the picture.

Training response is asymmetric: cardio shifts endomorphy down but ectomorphy is largely a function of height-to-weight ratio, so the type moves slowly. Resistance work pays off well because mesomorphy starts low and has room to grow.
